SURVIVOR PHOENIX
by Deena Bennett
September 25, 2003
The number one question asked of me is generally, “Did you have fun?” The answer my friends is an emphatic, “NO!” However, it was an experience of a lifetime that I would not exchange for the world. Certainly at times, generally following a victory at a challenge, I had “fun”. But overall, the game was incredibly taxing both mentally and physically. The weather, the lack of food and a decent shelter all take their toll. The bigger you are the harder you fall.

In light of the aforementioned I will say that the number one commandment of Survivor is Thou Shalt Not Quit. It was nice to see that Morgan took a lesson from Jaburu and refused to let Osten out. Mind you I understand his complaints, I have felt his pain, literally, but who is he kidding? The man can move an ox if he needed to. So to Osten I say, get over it, turn the page, suck it up, and above all, take a lesson from a former castaway…whining will get you nowhere but a swift kick in the editing behind from MB himself.
I do however note that while I think that Morgan is down, they are certainly not out. I sense decision amongst the tribe of Drake and from the previews it appears that more is on the way. All it takes is one victory, whether it be a reward or an immunity challenge to get them back into high gear and send Morgan into a tail spin.
Can you predict the first casualty? Me thinks it just might be my favorite Latina, Sandra. I hope I was not the only one yellin’ at my television when she went to raid Drake. If she should make the merge, that will so come back to bite her. Why oh why would she take on a task like that when clearly her own team was sending this poor lamb to slaughter? Never, never, never leave camp and let the rest cut you out of the loop or conspire against you, unless of course you are going as a power member with another power member (see Alex and Jenna at the coffee bar). So, Drake sold her out and Morgan hates her, because after all isn’t she solely responsible for their moral demise by taking their tarp? Future advice to the raiders…heed Rupert’s advice and go into the opposing team’s camp and take something that won’t hurt quite so much. Make friends with your enemies for future needs.
But tarp or no tarp, Morgan cannot swim, collectively that is. Osten stated that he does not go into the water unless he has to and Lillian does not look all that comfortable swimming in her underwear. Sadly for them it appears that any challenge in the water will most certainly favor Drake. I would look to see more water challenges for the RC and land challenges for the IC. At least then there might be some parity should there be a swap.
Finally, am I missing something or do we have some MIAs? But for a few lines, Trish, Darrah, and Ryan have been unquestionably quiet. Beware the non-speakers! Silent but deadly, comes to mind when considering face time. I look to all three hanging around for a while. Of course, this is purely speculative on my part, or is it?
