To sleep in the middle of vegetation, to endure the mosquitos and the almost unbearable heat, to swim in a river full of caimans...these are tools of the trade for one of the producers of the sixth edition of Survivor, the American program which inspired No limite. The 34-year old producer from Rio, Luciana Brafman, lived in New York and had never even gone camping in her life. Yet since September, she has been in the Amazonian forest, working to film the show with one hundred Brazilians and 300 foreigners.

"It's going on three months since I have seen a car," she tells us good-naturedly. "But already, I am getting used to it, I think that I will even miss it when I return to civilization."
Luciana can say little, or almost nothing, about Survivor itself. After some information was leaked to the press, CBS, the television network which holds the rights to the program, intensified its vigilance and started to demand absolute secrecy from all those involved in the project. It is known that the production headquarters are located in a large hotel right on the Rio Negro river in the Amazon. The hotel has a capacity of 600 guests and is about a 3 hour boat ride from Manaus.
"Cellulars have poor reception, the heat is absurd, we are in the middle of the forest! And when it rains, it's a nightmare," recounts the producer. "The other day, I went swimming in a river, but I was scared to death of the caimans and the piranhas. Snakes, I have yet to see. This is the mother of all challenges."
In Luciana's current reality, there is no room for vanity. The producer's basic wardrobe consists of cargo pants or bermuda shorts, tennis shoes or sandals.
"It's very strange to have to wear the same clothes all the time. And the food too! Here everything is made with flour and cassava, there is not much variety. I am dying to eat broccoli and spinach! We have to import everything that I love, including dough."
Luciana states that she is loving the unusual experience, despite her love of the beaches of Ipanema. What she cannot hide is the longing for her family and friends.
"I can speak with whoever I want, call anyone I want. The producers do not have the degree of total isolation that the castaways do who cannot speak to anyone. But I miss seeing the people I love," she says.
The team will remain confined there until the middle of this month (she would not even confirm this much!). "Survivor 6" should air in the United States in February. The first two editions were filmed in Oceania (Malaysia and Australia); the third in Eastern Africa (Kenya); the fourth in French Polynesia; the fifth in Thailand. It is speculated that the seventh edition could be filmed in Mexico, with a celebrity cast. The winner of "Survivor 6" will take home a home a lump sum of US$1 million.

 Dormir no meio do mato, aturar os mosquitos e o calor quase insuportável, nadar em um rio cheio de jacarés... Ossos do ofício de ser uma das produtoras da sexta edição do “Survivor”, programa americano inspirador do “No limite”. A carioca Luciana Brafman, de 34 anos, que morava em Nova York e foi dona de uma produtora, nunca tinha sequer acampado na vida. E está desde setembro na selva Amazônica, trabalhando com cem brasileiros e 300 estrangeiros para gravar o programa.
— Vou completar três meses sem ver um carro — conta ela, bem-humorada. — Mas já estou me acostumando, acho que vou até estranhar quando voltar para a civilização.
Luciana pouco, ou quase nada, pode dizer sobre o “Survivor” em si. Depois que algumas informações vazaram para a imprensa, a CBS, rede de TV detentora dos direitos do programa, intensificou a vigilância e passou a exigir sigilo absoluto dos envolvidos no projeto. Sabe-se que a base de apoio das gravações é um imenso hotel em pleno Rio Negro, na Amazônia, com capacidade para 600 hóspedes, a mais ou menos três horas de barco de Manaus.
— Os celulares não pegam direito, o calor é absurdo, estamos no meio da mata! E quando chove, é um horror — conta a produtora. — Outro dia fui nadar num rio, mas morrendo de medo dos jacarés e das piranhas. Cobra eu ainda não vi. Está sendo um senhor desafio.
Na atual realidade de Luciana, vaidade não tem lugar. O guarda-roupa básico da produtora é calça cargo ou bermuda, tênis ou chinelo:
— Estranho muito ter que vestir a mesma roupa o tempo todo. E a comida também! Aqui tudo leva farinha e mandioca, não tem muita variedade. Estou louca de vontade de comer brócolis e espinafre! Temos que importar tudo, inclusive massa, que eu amo.
Luciana conta que está adorando a experiência inusitada, apesar de gostar mesmo é das areias de Ipanema. Só não consegue disfarçar a saudade da família e dos amigos.
— Eu posso falar com quem eu quiser, ligar para quem eu quiser. A produção não tem esse esquema de isolamento total dos participantes. Com eles é que nem eu posso falar. Mas sinto falta de ver as pessoas que amo — diz ela.
A equipe vai ficar confinada lá até meados deste mês (nem isso ela quis contar!). O “Survivor 6” deve ir ao ar em fevereiro, nos Estados Unidos. As duas primeiras edições foram gravadas na Oceania (Malásia e Austrália); a terceira, na África Oriental (Quênia); a quarta, na Polinésia Francesa; e a quinta, na Tailândia. Especula-se que a sétima edição poderá ser gravada no México, desta vez com celebridades no elenco. O vencedor do “Survivor 6” levará para casa uma bolada de US$ 1 milhão.
